Members of Secours Catholique participate in a climate workshop in Lourdes. Christophe Hargoues
Ten years ago, in his encyclical Laudato si', Pope Francis urged that the environmental crisis not be divorced from issues of social justice. Catholic Relief Services has taken up this challenge, launching an ambitious reflection on a "just and fraternal" ecology.

Through the glass doors of the Saint-Méthode room in the Cité Saint-Pierre de Lourdes, the green of the mountains attracts like a magnet. This morning, the small groups have spread out across the meadow, dotted with small mauve flowers. This is the fifth and final session of the National Animation Council (CAN) of Secours Catholique, which for the past two years has brought together around sixty members, a third of whom are leaders of the movement, a third of whom are employees, and a third of whom are people in precarious situations, to reflect on "just and fraternal ecology."
